Two More Poems by Kim Shuck

Your Beautiful Wild

I don't want to write you bandages
I will if I have to but
I'd rather write you
Party streamers
Laughing until you ache
Walking adventures
Card games
Good movies
Safety
Safety
Safety
A place to unfold
All of your beautiful
Wild
Thinking

The Measure of Poets

They're measuring poets by the scars on their hearts
I will tell you now
The spark for each of our stories is still out there
Somewhere
I will tell you now
Even though
From this hill
It looks as if each song grows from violence
Wild garlic will still grow in the quiet
Rabbit
Makes mischief
Under trees that recite the years
Without being cut
I tell you now that the pink roses
Lend their sweetness to the raspberry canes
And I will tell you
You are not less a part of this story
No matter what other stories my try to tell you
You are as urgent and
Foundational
As wandering
