The Lake County Women’s Civic Club (LCWCC) began the season of giving at their monthly luncheon meeting on Friday, November 4th, at the Riviera Hills Restaurant. The club hosted Julie Kelley of Sponsoring Survivorship, Chris Taliaferro, and Dave Waldschmitt of Vet Connect.
Julie Kelley of Sponsoring Survivorship received a check for $750.00 from the LCWCC treasurer, Debbie Strickler. Julie explained to the group that her organization has been helping men and women who are fighting breast cancer for 26 years through financial support for any of their needs during the difficult and trying time of cancer treatment. She noted that in all of the years they have served the county, they have never had to turn away a person in need. The Women’s Club is pleased to support such a valuable service in our community.
In addition to presenting a check to Sponsoring Survivorship, the LCWCC also had a check for $500.00 to present to Chris Taliaferro of Vet Connect. Chris was the guest speaker for the meeting and explained the services his group has available for vets in Lake County. He shared that in 2008 there were no vet services in all of Lake County. Vets had to travel outside of the county to receive needed help. Since then, Vet Connect and the United Veteran’s Council have brought much-needed help into the county. They recently received space in Lakeport where they can store and distribute needed supplies to vets and support them in getting connected with the services they require.
The day after the luncheon meeting, the ladies of LCWCC held their annual Crafter’s Fair and Bake Sale in Kelseyville. The club and the vendors would like to thank everyone who came out to support this event, which helps to make possible the club’s donations to various groups in Lake County throughout the year. This great group of gals meet on the first Friday of each month at the Riviera Hills Restaurant at 11:30 am. If you are interested in membership, contact President Helen Finch at 707-972-1807
