Back by popular demand, the Lake County Silver Foundation is hosting the 4th Annual Senior Summit, a one of a kind event honoring the contributions of Lake County Seniors and Elders. The event takes place on April 4 from 9 am – 4 pm at the Robinson Rancheria Resort and Casino Event Center located at 1545 State Hwy 20 in Nice. It is free of charge for individuals 62+ years of age.
It’s nine in the evening at Robinson Rancheria. The Kentucky Jugglers have finished warming up and kick into their first song, “Keep on Rockin’ me, Baby.” On the left of the stage, Danny Hogan, a black cowboy hat on his head and cowboy boots on his feet, plucks away at his bass. It’s been a while since he’s played; over a year ago, he was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. But now he’s back, and stands tall, thumping away to the beat. Tonight is special, and not just for Danny. Once the band found out about Danny’s illness, instead of replacing him, they decided to stop their gigs and wait until he got better. Tonight, they are playing together for the first time in over a year.
“With this agreement, we are advancing our vision of a cohesive and inclusive approach to highlight the many wonders of our county,” said Board Co-Chair Maryann Schmid. “A key objective of our newly formed District is to provide benefits through marketing and sales promotions designed to increase overnight tourism and promote Lake County lodging venues as meeting and event destinations,” she said.
