The Lake County Democratic Party has endorsed six candidates running for local offices: Jessica Pyska for Board of Supervisors in District 5, David Claffey for Clearlake City Council, Michael Green for Lakeport City Council, Natalie Higley and Gilbert Rangel for Kelseyville Unified School District Board, and Zabdy Neria for Konocti Unified School District Board.
Our guest speaker, Jerry Eaton serves on the CTA Governing Board, representing District A which encompasses nine counties including Lake. Jerry Eaton is a veteran high school teacher in the Travis Unified School District in Solano County and former school board member in Vacaville Unified. A longtime union activist with 14 years of overall teaching experience, Eaton has been active with CTA at the state and local levels. He served for five years as a local delegate to the CTA State Council of Education, the union’s top governing body. For the Travis Unified Teachers Association, he served as vice president, political action committee chair and local school site representative, among other duties. Mr. Eaton contains a wealth of knowledge on the subject of school funding.

The Lake County Democratic Party will host Sheryn Hildebrand, Executive Director of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Mendocino & Lake Counties at the Programs & Recruitment Committee meeting on March 11, at 6:00 pm at 16255 2nd Street in Lower Lake. Ms. Hildebrand has led our regional CASA for nearly 19 years.
Lake County Democrats host a double feature of Perfect 36: When Women Won the Vote and Step by Step: Building a Feminist Movement, 1941-1977 at their 2nd Saturday Cinema program on March 14th at 2 PM at the Kelseyville Event Center, 5235 Third St. in Kelseyville. The Lake County Democratic Party will present the film Power to Heal at the Programs & Recruitment Committee meeting on January 8, at 6:00 pm in Lower Lake. Power to Heal is an hour-long public television documentary that tells a poignant chapter in the historic struggle to secure equal and adequate access to healthcare for all Americans. Central to the story is the tale of how a new national program, Medicare, was used to mount a dramatic, coordinated effort that desegregated thousands of hospitals across the country practically overnight.
