Archie Hendricks served in the 26th Cavalry in the Philippines during early 1942. He was captured by the Japanese and died a prisoner. His official death date is February 10, 1942. Archie’s family had lived in Lake County since the 1860s. He grew up in Lakeport, graduated from Clear Lake Union High School, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Husbandry from the University of California at Davis before joining the Army. He trained Philippine soldiers in cavalry warfare.
