Lake County Music Guide 9.28.21

I just read an interesting fact about Oktoberfest; it takes place in Munich, Germany over a 16 day period, (sadly cancelled last 2 years…), where roughly 1,700,000 Imperial Gallons, (that’s 2,041,614 US Gallons – but who’s really counting…) of beer are consumed. Talk about thirsty. Hopefully we can expect some Oktoberfest activities this month so we Lake Countians can try to break that record. Here is the live music guide for the week of 9/28 through 10/5…

Tuesday afternoons are always Oktoberfest at the Kelsey Creek Brewing in Kelseyville, especially when Buskin’ for Brewskis happens. This Tuesday Mike G, (me…), will be performing solo, while Danny Prather is away on vacation. There’s plenty of excellent handcrafted beers, ales and seltzers to choose from. Lederhosen and Tyrolean hats are optional accoutrements, but, sorry folks, no Oompah Music. Craft beer isn’t alcoholism – it’s a hobby… Music will be from 3 to 6:00 or so…

The Blues Invitational Pro Jam with Wendy DeWitt will be on for Wednesday night at the Hopland Tap from 7 to 10:00. Wendy, Kirk, Pierre and Skip always make it an evening to remember. And often they bring up a name brand Bay Area musician to seal the deal, and this week it’s none other than Mike Adams from The Fargo Bros… The bartender asked the German physicist what he wants. The physicist replied, “Ein stein”…

On Thursday the Saw Shop Public House will be among the restaurants and eateries that will be supporting the Hospice Services of Lake County, (see end comments…), with music by Beatz Werkin’… Good idea to make reservations first… During Oktoberfest, technically speaking, beer is a solution…The Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake on Thursday will also be supporting the Hospice Services of Lake County event (again, see end comments…), with great food and the music of David Neft. Best call for times. At Oktoberfest, never look at your beer as half empty, look at it as halfway to your next beer…

Jonathan Foster will be playing Thursday evening at The Shanachie Pub in Ukiah starting at 7:00. At Oktoberfest, beer is never the answer. Beer is the question and the answer is yes…

On Friday at the Rivino Winery in Ukiah, Three Times Bad will rock the stage starting at 4:00. At Oktoberfest, beer doesn’t make you fat, it makes you lean, (against walls, tables, chairs, etc…).

The Middletown Art Center will host a Friday Night Farmer’s Market and will feature the music of Margo Fleming from 4 to 7:00. Locally grown fruit and vegetables, handcrafted items and Margo. At Oktoberfest, the definition of a well balanced diet is one beer in each hand…

Twin Pine Casino in Middletown will present both Friday and Saturday nights, A Train. I cannot find any info on these guys, so it’s Kamakasi Rock ‘n’ Roll time at the Casino. Hey, you might just become a winner… At Oktoberfest, those who drink beer live less – less stressed, less sadness, less bitterness and less worried – make beer, not war…

On Saturday the Farmer’s Finest Farmers Market at Steele Winery in the Finley area will, as always, bring you the freshest local homegrown fruit and vegetables along with some of the finest handcrafted items that everyone would cherish to put on display in their abodes. There will also be excellent local musicians performing for your shopping pleasures and beyond. This time the live music will be provided by Art Delmar. Shakesbeer once said at an Oktoberfest celebration, “To beer is not to beer, that is the question”…

Coyote Valley Casino in Redwood Valley will bring you the Original Wailers, a band that at one time included Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer – precursors to the great Reggae explosion that has captivated both the 420 crowd and millions of straight folks for 50 years. I love me some Reggae… It’s not a good idea to play the triangle at an Oktoberfest celebration in Jamaica because it’s always one ting after another…

At 1:00, Rivino Winery Saturday afternoon in Ukiah, come groove to the Cosmic Family starting at 1:00. Plan for the future at Oktoberfest – buy two beers…The Konocti Harbor Resort Marina Bar and Grill, ( KoHaReMa Bag…) will feature, along with a superb menu, the God Given Voice of Anthony Neves, (Tony Neves to us mere mortals…) on Saturday from 6 to 9:00 and on Sunday from 1 to 4:00. At an Oktoberfest celebration a grasshopper sits down at a bar and the bartender says, “Did you know we have a drink named after you?” The grasshopper looks at him strangely and says, “Why would you name a drink Ernie?!?!”

Hey, it’s time for the Pumpkin Fest and Dia De Los Muertos, (Day of the Dead – not Garcia and Co…) Celebrations in Lakeport on Saturday from 11AM to about 8:00. Expect music by the lovely and wonderful Irma Lopez, and Folklorico “Si Senor” plus Margo Fleming will play from 3 to 3:30, but there’s also a street dance later on featuring Beatz Werken’ from 5 to 8:00. “Dear liver – today will be a rough one. Stay strong”…

Saturday evening from 5 to 9:00 mayhem and disaster might occur when Johnny Tsunami and the Hurricanes rock the deck at The Riviera Hills Lounge with what could be described as Stevie Ray Vaughan meets The Ventures. Hey, who wouldn’t like Walk, Don’t Run done in the bitchinest Blues version. Okay he don’t play dat… But what he does do is out of this world. I have Saturday night off so I’ll be lovin’ me some JT and H. I know I’ll git ‘er done…

Reservations are strongly suggested… At Oktoberfest, when I drink a lot of beer, IPA lot…O’Meara Bros Brewing are among the local eateries supporting Hospice Services of Lake County, (see end comments), and on Saturday they are very excited to bring back William Scott Forbes plus accompaniment from Chris Rovetti, (and maybe Carlos Garay) from 6 to 9:00. This guy is off the charts good. Enjoy a great meal, excellent handcrafted brews and music you’ll be able to tell your grandchildren about some day. During Oktoberfest, what’s the best O’Meara Bros beer? – the one in your hand!…

It’s the 1st Sunday Fiddler’s Jam at the Ely Stage Stop from noon until 2:00. If Bluegrass is your bag, then this is the place. Get in some big time cloggin’ to the best Bluegrass Lake County has to offer, which is pretty amazing stuff, Maynard! Let’s kick up some dust!… At Oktoberfest a Roman walks into a bar, holds up two fingers and says “Give me five beers.”

The Greenview Restaurant in Hidden Valley Lake will be supporting Hospice Services of Lake County on Thursday, (see end comments) and on Sunday will feature the music and song of Carlos Garay on Sunday from 4 to 7:00. At Oktoberfest, a skeleton walks into a bar and orders a beer and a mop…

The Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake, which always bests the rest with more music per week will present on Friday the delightful Torch Numbers, Blues Classics and many other songs from yesteryear from 6 to 8:00. On Saturday evening, enjoy an excellent meal and the music of Steve Winkle from 6 to 8:00. For their Sunday Brunch, come embrace the music of Indie Groove from 11:30 to 2:00. Sunday Supper will be so much better with the music of Steve Winkle from 6 to 8:00. Monday Blues will feature the inimitable TC Culp and Friends, (me on guitar…) from 6 to 8:00. Might be a good idea to first make reservations… just sayin’…During Oktoberfest you might just hear your beer say, “you see that gorgeous babe two tables over? You should go talk to her. You’re charming, funny, good looking, and totally in her league!”. er…

Karaoke Korner The Spot in Clearlake in Clearlake will have Karaoke Wednesday from 6 to 9. Billy Kidd and The American Legion Hall in Clearlake will host Karaoke Friday from 6 to 9:00.Beer…

On a different note, this Thursday there will be a number of events called “Dine out for Hospice – a Benefit for Hospice Services of Lake County” – that will happen at many local Lake County restaurants and other eateries. Many local restaurants as well as local musicians have been involved with this wonderful organization for several years. Simply look at the flyer on their website and decide where to go to support your favorite restaurant or your favorite musician, if listed. Wherever these venues support the event, so should you. It’s for an extremely important cause. So, when you go out this week to check out some of our local live music, have a fun time, but please be safe…This Oktoberfest beer tastes like I’m not going to work tomorrow… But hey, it’s not that I’m promoting beer drinking, it’s that I’m simply promoting a positive prospective on drinking beer… (BTW, all jokes are stolen from various internet sites.).
