Lake County Music Guide 9.22.21

Wednesday marks the end of Summer, the equinox and the expectation of about one more week of hot weather. But don’t start stocking up your burrows with nuts just yet – there’s still a ton of things to do, places to go and live music to enjoy. Here’s the live music guide for the week of 9/21 through 9/28…

The Blues Jam Invitational Pro Jam with Wendy DeWitt at the Hopland Tap will be happenin’ again on Wednesday from 7 to 10. Let Wendy, Kirk, Pierre and Skip put on a clinic of Blues. Take it from the top!

Tommy Rox will be playing at The Saw Shop Public House in Kelseyville on Thursday from 6 to 9:00. Expect T.Rox to unleash the magic that has makes him a crowd fave throughout every Summer here in The LC. Enjoy an excellent meal and a full bar while Tommy does his thing. Whoa Nelly! On Saturday evening there’s a special event featuring the over-the-top Blues music of Dave Broida and Blues Farm from 6 to 8:00. Dy-no-mite! Always a good idea to make reservations…

The Spot in Clearlake is nervous with anticipation for the return of Dave Broida and Blues Farm on Friday evening from 6 to 9:00. Hard to imagine this crowd pleasing band hasn’t played here all Summer, but they’re back and ready to give you all the 1,4,5 you can handle. Wowie Zowie! On Saturday local Clearlakians and Spot Faves, Dr Groove, will whip the crowd up into a frenzy with R&B, Soul, Funk, Blues and Classic Rock from 6 to 9:00. Woohoo!

Local legend John Paul Hodge will be back singing and playing at Robinsons Rancheria Casino in Nice on Friday from 5 to 9:00. Those who’ve never seen him will watch with wonder as he utilizes an interesting technology where his songs evolve out of nothing into these little masterpieces. You gotta see it to understand. Cool beans, Dude! On Saturday get in your U.S.R.D.A. of two-steppin’ music when Bobby Zoppi and The Corduroys come to the casino by popular demand from 9 to 1:00. Cowboy down!

Time to get your bad self to Twin Pine Casino in Middletown when Super Badd hits the stage both Friday and Saturday nights from 9 to 1:30. I mean BAAAAD!

The Farmer’s Finest Farmers Market at Steele Winery off Hwy 29 near Finley will provide lots of locally grown fruit and vegetables as well as an assortment of handcrafted merchandise. And the music for Saturday morning will be Bill Vanderwall from 10AM to 1:00. On Tuesday the FFFM moves to the Gazebo in Library Park, Lakeport. Expect many of the same fruit, veggies and merchandise plus the music of Gloria Scott, also from 10AM to 1:00. There’s something for everybody, I guarantee it!

Saturday will bring a bittersweet celebration to Richmond Park in the bayside Riviarea when Tommy Rox plays his last gig at The Park this Summer starting at 2:00. There will be an Oyster feed to commemorate this momentous event. One more chance this year to let T.Rox show you why he is the consummate musician. ROCK ON, AMIGO! On Sunday those freakin’ fantastic fargin’ Fargo Bros will do that voodoo that they do so well from 2 to 5:00. Never a shortage of entertainment coming from these guys. Oysters, anyone? Fagitaboutit!…

The Riviera Hills Lounge in the upper Riviarea is excited to bring back Beatz Werkin’ Saturday evening from 5 to 9:00. This exciting Classic Rock and Blues band always gets the crowds rockin’ and a’rollin’, and Saturday out on the patio will be no different. Yowza!

Hillarie Wilt will be performing at O’Meara Bros Brewing in Lakeport from 6 to 9:00. When Hillarie plays there more than just excellent handcrafted beers and ales to look forward to. I mean it, Peanut!

Adams Springs, (which, by-the-way, is really a beautiful restaurant!), get ready for the Rockin’ Blues of Johnny Tsunami and the Hurricanes on Saturday from 6 to 9, Dudes. On Sunday from 11 to 2:00, for their Sunday Brunch expect Jim Williams to be providing the music for you to munch a bunch of brunch to. Mangia!

On Sunday afternoon The Boathouse Bar and Grill in that nice little town of Nice will feature the R&B, Blues and Funk of Dr Groove from 3 to 7:00. Have a meal, some libations, enjoy the cool lake breezes, then dance away the afternoon. Yippie kio kia!

The Greenview Restaurant in Hidden Valley Lake will provide Gypsy Guitar music from Carlos Garay from 4 to 7:00. Ay carumba!

The Blue Wing Saloon has lots of live music for you this coming weekend; On Friday the Majide Trio will enchant you with Blues Classics and Torch Ballads from 6 to 8:00. On Saturday evening it’s gonna be Jake and Jill. I’m pretty sure you’re going to enjoy this, they play some of the music that made Country Music Country Music! 6 to 8:00. For Sunday Brunch come check out Margo Fleming as she grooves her way through some Blues and Folk from 11:30 to 2:00. Sunday Supper will feature musical renditions from the lovely Hillarie Wilt from 6 to 8:00. For their Monday Blues get ready for Bill Noteman and the Rockets from 6 to 8:00. Be sure to make reservations for any of these shows. Hoohaw!

Karaoke Korner and Open Mic/Jams. There’s Karaoke featuring The Tattooed Cherries at The Spot in Clearlake on Wednesday from 6 to 9:00. The Open Mic/Jam is back on at The Spot on Thursday from 6 to 9:00. Karaoke featuring Billy Kidd will happen at the American Legion Hall in Clearlake from 6 to 9:00. The Open Mic/Jam featuring the Still Kick’n’ Band will be kickin’ it at The Barn in Clearlake Oaks from 6 to 9:00. We Wanna ROCK!

And, of course, the Kelseyville Pear Festival has been cancelled but their Farm to Fork Dinner featuring the Fargo Bros is on. Also unfortunately, it’s sold out. Sorry… Boo hoo!

So, like I said, still plenty of live music events to keep you busy this week. Hope to see you at one or another of these shows. Remember, masks are still recommended for all who plan on attending some of these events. So, if you go out this week, have a fun time, but please be safe…

Mike has been playing professionally, both acoustic and electric, for 40+ years. He paid his dues in a robust Sonoma County music scene during the '80s and '90s, then DJ'd for 10 years after moving to Lake County in 1996. After retiring from his job of 26 years, because he recognized a growing local music scene, he decided to devote his time to playing live music again. He's never looked back. Along with his regular band, Dr. Groove, he has filled in on lead guitar for local bands, (Fargo Bros, Blues Farm, C.A.M. Band, Borrowed Time, Time Travelers). He's played acoustic guitar at a some of our local wineries, restaurants, farmers Markets and art galleries. He's also a semi-regular supporting various local Open Mics around Lake County. He writes and records original songs and has recorded original demos for other performers as well. For the last three years, he has posted on Facebook a local music guide called the Lake County Music Guide.
