Lake County Music Guide – 9.21.22

Did anything surprisingly unusual happen while I was hiding under a rock this weekend? I always like to keep up with current events. Anything? Nothing? Here’s what I do know – that the Kelseyville Pear Festival is happening this coming Saturday. More on this… Also, for those of you who were disappointed about the canceled Moonalice show – it’s back this coming Sunday. More on that as well. But for these last few days, still nothing? Oh, well… Here’s the live music guide for the week of 9/21 through 9/26…

On Saturday, the FFFM moves over to the Mercantile at Shannon Ridge Winery in Finley. You’ll find the same products and more at this one, along with the music of Bill Vanderwall, also from 10: AM to 1:00. Bon appetite…

The excellent Farmer’s Market at the Senior Center/Library park in Middletown on Friday starts around 5:00, and finally, the Farmer’s Market in Clearlake in Redbud Park starts around 5:00. All these three events feature live music.

Tuesday evening at the Big Valley Grange Hall in Finley, the grangers will hold their monthly meeting followed by a potluck supper and the leg-shaking good Blues music of Dave Broida’s Blues Farm, all starting at 6:00. Take it from the top, Boys!

The Hopland Tap continues to bring you one of the most fun jam sessions in the North Bay when they present the Invitational Blues Jam on Wednesday from 7 to 10. The house band featuring Wendy, Kirk, Pierre, and Skip warms up the event, followed by invited musicians, and sometimes they bring in a name-brand local Nor Cal musician to really make things interesting. Too much fun!…

The Saw Shop Public House in Kelseyville has one of the best menus in the county plus a full bar, and this Thursday, everybody’s faves, the LC Diamonds, will get the crowd going from 6 to 9:00. This is the perfect trifecta… Then for their Sunday Brunch, singer/guitarist Mike Guarniero returns to make it among the most pleasurable breakfasts you’ll ever have – all this from 11:00 to 2:00. Come ‘n’ get it!…

Andre’s Lounge in Lakeport will feature the Queen of the Ivories on Thursday when Kim Thomas plays the Grand Piano from 7 to 9:00. And to accompany Kim will be one of the hottest vocalists on the planet, Anthony Neves. Together they’re known as “Kimistry and Tones.” You just can’t make this up!… And if that ain’t enough, on Friday evening, piano player, singer, and raconteur Andy Rossoff will be joined by sax/clarinet player extraordinaire Jim Leonardis from 7:30 to 10:30. Come see what Andre has done with the place. Que le plaisir commence.

Richmond Park in the bayside Riviera on Friday will feature the music of the Mark Weston Band from 8 to midnight. And with the rains we’ve received, you might be able to get there by boat…

At Twin Pine Casino in Middletown this Friday and Saturday, come get your USRDA of Two-Steppin’ Music with California Country from 9 to 1:00. Should be fun!…

The Kelseyville Pear Festival, among the top events in The LC, is happening on Saturday from 9: AM to 4:00 (actually 7:00 – read on…). You will find, among an assortment of local food, beer, and crafts vendors, displays of just about everything one can do with a pear. Think about all that Bubba said to Gump in that one famous scene – you’ll find at this event that pears have just about as many different uses. But I’m here to focus on the music, so here’s a rundown: My Divas will open the event by singing the National Anthem at 9: AM, so you won’t wanna miss ‘em – they’re great! Get there early. After that comes Celtic Harp Bliss from 10: AM to 12:00 at the West America Bank lobby. From 11: AM to 1:00, local Blues band Stevie and the Shufflenuts will lay down the 1,4,5 on the Pear Square Stage at 3rd and Main Street. At the Konocti Stage at the corner of 5th and Main, local rockers, The Time Travelers will rock your world from 11:30 to 3:15. Soon afterward, Austin and Owens will unleash their acoustic magic at the Pear Square Stage, 3rd and Main from 12:30 to 4:00, (an actual magician will perform real magic during one of their breaks – whatta segue!…). Sorta related, at 1:00 to 3:00, singer Anthony Neves will be performing at the Saw Shop Public House, followed by the Hip Replacements from 4 to 7:00. Then, wrapping up the KPF events, local band Breaker One 9 will give it to you Country style at the Kelsey Creek Stage, 3rd and Main from 2 to 4:00.

Langtry Farms Winery near Middletown will celebrate its annual Harvest Party on Saturday from 5 to 9:00 and features the music of acoustic guitarist and singer Randy Hood. Get a taste of local – and not so local – history at this winery (think Judge Roy Bean…). The cost is $50, please call the winery for more details…

If you didn’t get enough of Austin and Owens at the Pear Fest, they’re pulling a double shift by playing also at The O’Meara Bros Brewing in Lakeport Saturday from 6 to 9:00. The O’Bros have some new beers and ales on tap for you to savor while A&O do their magic…

If the Pear Festival got your juices flowing and you need more dancin’ to make your day, the Riviera Hills Lounge in the Riviera will feature my band, Dr Groove, from 6 to 10:00. Let those groove doctors give you your fill of R&B, Blues, Funk and Soul while taking in some of the most magnificent views the county has to offer. That and maybe a great meal and a libation or two – what’s stoppin’ ya?

The Robinson Rancheria Lounge in Nice will get you boppin’ when Fast Times take the stage Saturday night from 9 to 1:00. I hear the slots are always hot whenever the music is hot…

The Boathouse Grill in that nice little town of Nice will the dancin’ Blues of Dave Broida and Blues Farm on Sunday between 3 and 7:00, or is it 2 to 6:00, or maybe 4 to 8:00. It seems to change weekly… Tell you what, get there by 2:00, have some snacks, followed by a meal, a couple two or three cocktails, then stay for the duration – or else you can call for times. It’s all fun, regardless!

For last Sunday’s rescheduled concert, Cache Creek Winery east of Clearlake Oaks will present Moonalice once again on this coming Sunday evening. This band is just so much great fun, you’ll smile from the first note ‘til the final bow. And you’re certain to love them. As before, the gate opens at 5:00, tix are $25 and showtime is at 6:00. And this is a benefit KPFZ 88.1 FM Lake County Community Radio. If you listen to them, come show the love.

Running Creek Casino in Upper Lake will feature on Sunday evening some groovin’ classics from Dr Groove. Their restaurant has become one of the county’s best-kept secrets – the food is sensational! So, come out and have a meal, some libations, then shake yer groove thang from 5 to 9:00. Much better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick…

Wrappin’ up the music guide, saving the best for last, The Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake always has an excellent meal waiting for you, a full bar, and some of the best musical entertainment you’re gonna find here in the county. Let’s start off with Friday evening when The Majide Trio performs Torch Ballads, Blues Classics, and Standards from another era from 6 to 8:00. On Saturday evening, enjoy a fine supper with the music of From the Heart from 6 to 8:00. Their Sunday Brunch will be a delight when Flamenco guitarist Jason Wright does his magic from 11:30 to 2:00. Sunday Supper will be a treat when “Famous Musician” Paul Kemp tickles the ivories, (and maybe even your innards) with his piano performances from 6 to 8:00. Then for the Monday Blues Series, the Hip Replacements are back and bringin’ on the 12 bars from 6 to 8:00. Always fun when the Hip Reps play the BWS. Reservations are recommended for all shows…

I would like to make a suggestion; don’t put your shorts and tank tops away just yet. It’s gonna be kinda warm this weekend and looks like it for at least the next coupla weeks. Oh, yeah! That’s what happened over the weekend – it rained, and it’s still raining! WHOOPEE!!!! But the weekend is gonna be nice, so be sure to get out and support our local bands and the venues that provide us with live music. So, if and when you go out to enjoy our live music, have fun, but please be safe… Thank you all!
