Lake County Music Guide: 7.21.22

Hey, folks, it’s hot outside. Okay, that’s the understatement of the year, but I’m just sayin’… But on the positive side, the live music scheduled for this next week is gonna be just as hot. Again – just sayin’… Here’s the live music guide for Lake County for the week of 7/21 through 7/25…

Kelsey Creek Brewing in K’ville is gonna have a busy week, starting today, Tuesday from 3 to 6:00 when Buskin’ for Brewskis throws out some tunes while the excellent handcrafted beers, ales and seltzers magically pour into glasses – the perfect symbiosis… It’s always a fun party on Tuesday afternoon… Then on Friday everybody’s favorite psychoramic band, Groovy Judy will remind all of you that the ‘60s actually did happen, (please stay away from the brown acid), starting at 4:00. And if on Sunday you’re really feeling saxy, (no typo here, folks…), Nancy Wright and the Rhythm and Roots Band will give you the performance of a lifetime. All are events you won’t want to miss.

The Kelseyville the “Kickin’ in the Country Street Dance” which features ’60s sensations, Big Brother and the Holding Company, will rock the joint Thursday evening. Opening for this iconic Bay Area band will be the exciting SF band, Groovy Judy. Get in touch with your tie-dye roots, regardless of what that is – from 6 to 10:00. How groovy is that?!?

The Saw Shop Public House in Kelseyville will present on Thursday the music of the Hip Replacements from 6 to 9:00. And on Sunday, from 11:00 to 1:30, their Sunday Brunch will feature the music of The Noteworthy Trio.

On Thursday, the Adams Springs Golf Course in the Cobb area will feature the sublime performance from Kim Thomas and Tony Neves from 7 to 9:00. Maybe it’s time to step up to the mountain and see what the higher elevation folks enjoy. You can’t get any better than this…

There are Farmers Mkts happening throughout Lake County, mostly at Pine grove, Middletown, Clearlake, Finley and Lakeport. Sorry, I don’t have all the performers, but there’s plenty of locally grown fruit and vegetables, plus an assortment of handcrafted items you probably can’t live without. All available for your interest. Among the performers; Scott Serena on Tuesday from 10AM to 1:00 at Lakeport Farmer’s Market at Library Park in Lakeport. On Saturday the Market moves to Shannon Ridge Mercantile on Hwy 29 in Finley with musical performance by Dennis Purcell, also from 10AM to 1:00.

The Spot in Clearlake is pulling out all the stops this weekend when Scotty J rocks the joint on Friday from 6 to 9:00. On Saturday come get your fill of the Tatooed Cherries from 6 to 9:00.

On Friday evening the Lakeport Summer Concert Series at Library Park will feature everybody’s favorite dance band, The Funky Dozen starting at 6:30. Be sure to bring a chair or blanket, a picnic and beverages, get there early to grab the shady spots, then relive the musical eras this funky band presents.

Twin Pine Casino in Middletown on Friday and Saturday nights will feature local Country faves, Breaker One-9 from 9 to 1:00. The Band is hot, the slots are hot and the night will be hot!

Robinson Rancheria Casino in Nice will present on Friday the music of Jason Angove from 5 to 9:00. On Saturday night, Matt Rainey and the Dippin’ Sauce will play from 9 to 1:00.

The Middletown Mansion on Hwy 29 will be putting on a concert featuring Larry Hernandez and others starting at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon.

Richmond Park in the bayside Riviera on Saturday will bring back by popular demand The Fargo Bros starting at 2:00. On Sunday the inimitable Tommy Rox will take over the stage starting at 2:00. Call about Friday…

Chacewater Winery in Kelseyville is hosting “Hot Havana Nights” on Saturday evening from 6 to 9:00 and features the Carlos Herra Band.

O’Meara Bros Brewing in Lakeport on Saturday will feature sax mistress Nancy Wright and Band from 6 to 9:00. Always the perfect date night destination, and with this band, one of the best places to go on Saturday evening.

The Riviera Hills Lounge in the Riviera is happy to bring back Groovy Judy on Saturday from 6 to 10:00. Should be the perfect night to go out sporting your old bell bottoms and dashiki.

On Sunday over at the Boathouse in that nice little town of Nice, The LC Diamonds will be rockin’ the joint from 3 to 7:00. Maybe the best place to end the weekend…

Running Creek Casino in Upper Lake will feature the 1,4,5 magic of Dave Broida and Blues Farm on Sunday from 5 to 9:00. When these guys play, I promise you won’t be sittin’ still…

The Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake has an exciting weekend in store for you all. On Wednesday the Tallman Hotel will host the Whiskey Wednesday, a special dinner where they will offer food pairing with locally distilled whiskey. Live music will be performed from 6 to 8:30 by famous musician Paul Kemp. Cost is $95. Go to Eventbrite.com for tix. On Friday the Majide Trio have a special treat when Nancy Wright sits in for the evening. Between 6 and 8:00, it should be pretty saxy… On Saturday yours truly, Mike Guarniero will provide the song and strum from 6 to 8:00. The Sunday Brunch will feature Twining Time from 11:30 to 2:00. Their Sunday Supper will feature the Jules Leyhe Trio from 6 to 8:00. The Monday Blues series is excited to bring back Nancy Wright and the Rhythm Roots Band from 6 to 8:00. Reservations for all shows are strongly suggested…

Mike has been playing professionally, both acoustic and electric, for 40+ years. He paid his dues in a robust Sonoma County music scene during the '80s and '90s, then DJ'd for 10 years after moving to Lake County in 1996. After retiring from his job of 26 years, because he recognized a growing local music scene, he decided to devote his time to playing live music again. He's never looked back. Along with his regular band, Dr. Groove, he has filled in on lead guitar for local bands, (Fargo Bros, Blues Farm, C.A.M. Band, Borrowed Time, Time Travelers). He's played acoustic guitar at a some of our local wineries, restaurants, farmers Markets and art galleries. He's also a semi-regular supporting various local Open Mics around Lake County. He writes and records original songs and has recorded original demos for other performers as well. For the last three years, he has posted on Facebook a local music guide called the Lake County Music Guide.
