Lake County Music Guide 6.2.21

Today it was hot enough to fry eggs on my chest. I realize the older I get the harder it is to take this kind of heat. Just because Summer and HOT go hand in hand in Lake County, I still long for those balmy days of early Spring and Fall. The good news is that it should cool down to the mid nineties for the rest of the week and through the weekend. And it isn’t Summer for three more weeks. I hope they don’t run out of beer. Here’s the live music guide for the week of 6/2 through 6/8.

The Smiling Dogs Ranch in Kelseyville will feature the harmonica wizardry and tight Blues stylings of Dave Broida and Blues Farm on Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30. This is a casual poolside affair with enough dancing space to shake your booties, which you’re gonna wanna do… There’s a cover charge of $10, wine will be sold by the glass or the bottle, and it’s recommended you bring a chair, a picnic, beverages, (no glass bottles) and/or else something to share. It’ll be fun times alongside a beautiful vineyard listening to DB&BF.

On Thursday at The Saw Shop Public House come on by for the music of Tony Neves. Tony sat in with my band, Dr. Groove, on Saturday and he brought the house down. He’s a pretty good singer. The SSPH is a pretty good restaurant. Thursday is a pretty good day. Reservations are recommended…

For Middletown First Friday expect a Farmer’s Market where locally grown fruit and veggies will be on display, (and for purchase, of course…). The event starts at 5:00 and about 8:30 there’s an Open Mic event at the Middletown Art Center where just about any performer can show off their talents. Please support your local farmers and artists.

What a pleasant way to start off your day.On Tuesday the FFFM moves over to the gazebo in Library Park, Lakeport and features the music of, sorry, I dropped the ball again. Come to the Farmer’s Market, stock up on some locally grown fruit and vegetables, then let me know who’s playing. I’m pretty sure it’ll make your shopping experience more pleasant. On Tuesday the 8th, Dr Groove, (my band…), will be playing at The Music Club, which is also the Finley Big Valley Grange Hall in the West K’ville area from 6 to 8:00. These events are very casual – with a potluck, BYOB, lots of dancing and great vibes. Music will be outside by the vineyard. Hope you can all make it…

I know when you’ve gone out to see our local live music lately that it seems like the pandemic is finally over – lotsa folks not wearing masks, dancing, forming mosh pits, etc – but please folks, bring a mask and practice social distancing if and wherever you go this weekend – June 15th is when the maskless partying begins. And when you do go out to support our local bands, have fun, but please be safe…
