Lake County Music Guide – 6.15.22

THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT! WARNING! THE FLOODGATES HAVE BURST OPEN AND TONS OF GREAT LIVE MUSIC IS FLOODING YOUR WAY THIS WEEK! THIS IS NOT A JOKE. PLEASE BEWARE (or at least be aware…)! So, did I get your attention or what?!? Donovan once wrote a song called, “Season of the Witch”, but this is clearly the season of the “Concert Series” and/or “Festivals”. Here’s the local music schedule for the week of 6/14 thru 6/20 (and I hope I’ve gotten it all…).

On Wednesday, the Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake will host its first Garden Winemaker Dinner Series, an event honoring Chacewater Wines and Olive Oils. Music performance will be provided by famous musician, Paul Kemp from 6 to 8:30. Tix are $85, (members) and $95 and bought through, or call 707-275-2244 for other info. I once had the pleasure of performing solo at Chacewater Winery in Kelseyville and I found their wines most delectable – just sayin’…

At the Hopland Tap on Wednesday evening, the Blues Invitational Blues Jam featuring house band Wendy DeWitt, Kirk Harwood, Pierre Archain and Skip Engle is happening from 7 to 10. They usually feature a Bay Area brand name Blues artist to sit in and it’s always among one of the best performances you’ll see all week. I’ve been twice and couldn’t sit still – they rock the joint!

In Kelseyville at the Saw Shop Public House, along with excellent meals and a full bar, The Hip Replacements will rock you on Thursday from 6 to 9:00. Not only is this a great band name, but a pretty danged good band as well. On Sunday from 11:30 to 2:00 come get what can only be described as a wonderful brunch while listening to the music of the Rural Sax Project, (for a reason I can’t fully explain, I immediately envisioned something involving farm animals, then I read the band’s name a second time – my bad…). Say hello to Weston for me!

Margo and Friends will play from on Thursday from 6 to 8:00, (duo,) at Throckmorton and Jones, 341 No Mainstreet in Downtown Lakeport, for their customer appreciation event.

WOOHOO! On Thursday the first of the 2022 Kelseyville Kickin’ in the Street Dance Series kicks in with award-winning Country Music artist, Chris Bigford from 8 to 10:00. This Canadian performer has won numerous Manitoba Association of Country Artists, (MACA) awards, (read his bio – muy impresionante!…). He’s on his way to becoming among the best in Country Music. Opening for CB will be our local up and coming Country band, Breaker One 9, playing from 6 to 7:30. These guys have a big future in front of them as well… Be ready for an evening to kick up your heels Country style and do some Two Steppin’ – maybe even some line dancin’!

At Adams Springs Golf Course in the Cobb area, the grand piano will be played with love by the lovely and uber-talented Kim Thomas on Thursday from 7 to 9:00 and again on Sunday from 11AM to 1:00. If you don’t know Kim, she plays with three great bands – the Funky Dozen, Blue Hour and the 1st Sunday Open Jam Band. If you already know Kim, you already know there ain’t enough superlatives to sufficiently describe how good she is. Go see for yourself!

YOWSA! On Friday afternoon, the Lakeport Summer Concert Series starts off with a bang at the Gazebo in Library Park when the Fargo Bros take the stage starting at 6:30. This annual music concert series has been one of the biggest draws in The LC for at least a couple of decades, and the Fargos have been among the most entertaining bands to grace this stage. Whatta whole lotta fun to be had!

For another taste of the Hot Roux magic, you can catch them again at the Buckingham Clubhouse Outdoor Concert Center on Saturday from 5 to 8:00. This won’t be some Coors Lite event; they’ll lay it on just as thick and juicy as they always do!

The Fults Family Winery Summer Concert Series begins on Saturday and features LC faves, the LC Diamonds, from 6 to 9:00. The event takes place at 11441 Hwy 29 in the Lower Lake area. These guys always put on a good show, as do the FFWs. I expect this to be a fun time!

Everybody’s favorite band, the Hip Replacements will be rockin’ O’Meara Bros Brewing in Lakeport on Saturday from 6 to 9:00. Good band, good grub and some of the O’Bros excellent handcrafted beers and ales make this the perfect date night location.

Come one – come all…

The Beer, Wine and Swine Baconfest, (who knew all of those would make a good pairing?…), is back again on Sunday from 11 to 4:00. Sample bacon-flavored Potatoes la Bonnote, bacon-flavored Truffles, Bacon-flavored Moose Milk Cheese, bacon-flavored Yubari King Melons, bacon-flavored Strottarga Bianco – okay, I’m really just being silly. But expect lots of bacon-enhanced foods, craft vendors, plus the fun Americana Music of Hot Roux, (keeping with this delicacy theme…). The music they play is hot, fatty and artery-clogging – but you’ll wanna dance, so who cares. What a fun event with a really fun band! 11AM to 4:00. A special chef’s bacon theme competition will be held, but one must buy a ticket to partake. Tix must be purchased in advance at

If Blues is what you want, you’re gonna want to come to the Boathouse in that nice little town of Nice on Sunday when Dave Broida and Blues Farm outshine the day with some fun, jumpin’ Blues from 3 to 7:00. With the new and exciting Asian items added onto the menu, plus great lake views and enough 1.4,5 to make your day completely complete, I’m pretty sure it’ll, well, make your day complete – I mean it, peanut!

On Sunday, Drinx in Lakeport is happy to feature an Open Jam/Mic featuring Margo and Friends from 3 to 6:00.

I realize there’re never enough music events happening for you to make a conscience decision on what to do, but to paraphrase Bob Dylan, “you gotta do something”… Okay, I’m being facetious again… Honestly, I have a used ACME Cloning Machine I’m trying to sell just so some lucky music lover can go to all of these events at the same time. In the meantime, however, if and when you go out this week to check out and support our local music, have a fun time, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, and please be safe…
