Hidden Valley Lake is located in the southern part of Lake County where residents can enjoy more than a dozen amenities in and around the 102-acre lake including a semi-private 18-hole championship golf course and modern camping facilities. The Hidden Valley Lake Association supports more than 100 jobs in hospitality, private security, landscape maintenance, finance and other industries.
The open-air outdoor food and drink Order and pick-up area that the Greenview Restaurant has set up on their deck overlooking Lake County’s only 18-hole golf course is an example of how the restaurant, bar and clubhouse have planned and adapted to keep their workers and customers safe and adhere to local and state guidance. Early on in the pandemic, Restaurant Manager Janice Hicks was planning ahead and communicating with State Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) staff to come up with collaborative solutions to keep the business operating at a high capacity. This included a pivot to increased outdoor seating, increased capacity for ordering and pick up of to-go food and beverage items, reorganizing and scheduling of events to meet state and local health standards, a big screen TV playing sports on the deck and Carlos Garay playing for guests on the weekends.
Greenview and HVLA staff have been hard at work during shelter in place orders to ensure as much business continuity as possible. They fastened a canopy to the deck outside that shades the mobile bar where drink and food orders are placed and picked up, all while keeping recommended social distancing standards. To keep staff busy and on the payroll, painting, deep cleaning, and equipment updates took place and they refinished their black oak bar top inside the lounge.
“For now, we will continue with curbside pickup and to-go orders delivered to your outdoor table and a ‘self-serve’ outdoor bar but depending on how things proceed in the coming weeks, we hope to begin to provide table service outside.” said Mathew Metcalf, Food & Beverage Director. He continued, “please bear with us, 2020 has been a tough year for restaurants and I’m doing my best to serve all of you, take care of the staff and think outside the box.”
The Greenview Restaurant at Hidden Valley Lake recently accepted disposable facemasks and hand sanitizers for Hidden Valley Lake Association’s approximately 100 employees. The facemasks and sanitizer were allocated to Lake County small businesses and nonprofits by the CA Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) and the CA Office of the Small Business Advocate and have been distributed county wide through the efforts of public and private sector partners including small businesses, business associations, the County of Lake, and the Cities of Clearlake and Lakeport. Supplies are still available to businesses at no cost.
