Janis Joplin Night City, 1962
Born in Kentucky, I grew up in the green countryside of Maryland, among rivers, animals, and deep woods. I later lived in Baltimore, Venice Beach, New Orleans, in & around San Francisco, Savannah, and briefly in the slums of Brooklyn, (a unique experience). I currently live in Lakeport with cats and crows. As a child, I repeatedly read from “A Child's Garden Of Verses" which tickled my fancy and triggered my imagination. Also, my dad read to us nightly the epic poems of Henry W. Longfellow and other authors. My dad had a big library and we were a family of readers. I love words and love maneuvering them into languages that express my various facets. I also enjoy discovering new words in the thesaurus. I’ve been writing on and off since I was young. I’m still learning. Some of my favorite writers are Leonard Cohen, Tennessee Williams, Charles Bukowski, and the lesser known Kell Robertson. I’m also a fan of some of our local writers here in Lake County.
